Jackson, CA (February 16, 2024)- Operation Care Board of Directors would like to announce Tammie Crabtree, Executive Director, will retire March 31, 2024. Tammie joined the staff of Operation Care in 2007 as the Deputy Director and became the Executive Director in 2011. During her career at Operation Care, Tammie has ensured continual support services to thousands of victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
During her tenure, Tammie has launched several signature programs including, the Fresh Start Program in 2013, designed to help Operation Care safehouse clients obtain housing after their shelter stay by paying for household expenses that they may not otherwise be able to afford due to escaping domestic violence relationships. Other programs that Tammie implemented, were the donation center care closet, Operation Care’s Go! Youth program, and Community Connections. In addition to launching new programs, Tammie has made several long-lasting connections with other organizations in the community and encouraged collaboration with partner agencies to better serve our community.
Tammie served as Co-Chair of the Domestic Violence Council, Board of Director for Kene-Me-Wu, President of Rotary Club of Jackson, Co-Chair of Child Abuse Prevention Council, sat on the Board of The Amador County Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the National Women of Color Coalition where she was selected to attend training in Washington DC in 2014.
Tammie has brought many fundraising events to the community, which has allowed Amador County residents to support Operation Care and the clients we serve. The recent Purple Tie Gala, an idea proposed to Tammie, was brought into fruition by her creativity and ingenuity and became the most successful fundraiser in Operation Care history, netting over $40,000.
The Board of Directors recognizes Tammie’s tireless efforts in assuring that the mission of the organization was accomplished through her great leadership and for her tremendous impact on the wellbeing of the residents of the community.
As the Board of Directors, we are pleased to announce Ashley Carnicello will transition into Executive Director following Tammie’s departure. Ashley has been an employee of Operation Care since 2002. She became Deputy Director in 2011 and has continually worked to further the mission of Operation Care. We are looking forward to Operation Care’s continued success and growth, under Ashley’s leadership, providing invaluable services to Amador County.

A Message From Outgoing Executive Director
Dear Friends,
After much contemplation and reflection, I have decided to retire from my position as Executive Director of Operation Care. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve alongside such dedicated and passionate individuals at Operation Care. Over the years, we have worked tirelessly to advance the mission of providing support and resources to some of the most vulnerable in our community. I am immensely proud of the progress we have made and the lives we have touched together.
I joined the Operation Care team in 2007, under the leadership of, then, Executive Director, Lynn Shield. Over the years, I have been deeply grateful for the unwavering support and guidance I have received from the Board of Directors, staff members, volunteers and the community at large. Your commitment to our cause has been the driving force behind our success, and I have been continually inspired by your compassion and dedication.
As I step into this new chapter of my life, I am filled with gratitude for the meaningful experiences and relationships forged during my time at Operation Care. While I will miss the daily interactions and collaborative spirit of our organization, I am confident that the exceptional team we have built will continue to make a positive impact in the lives of those we serve.
I have every confidence in the capable leadership of the Interim Executive Director, Ashley Carnicello, who will be assuming the responsibilities of Executive Director following my departure.
Please know that although I will no longer be in my role, my commitment to supporting Operation Care and its mission remains steadfast. I look forward to witnessing the continued growth and success of our organization from a different vantage point.
Thank you once again for the privilege of serving as the Executive Director of Operation Care, Amador County. It has been a truly enriching and fulfilling journey, and I will carry the memories and friendships forged here with me always.
